Safety Quality App is saving Traficom time in safety occurrence processing

Traficom is the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency and the Safety Information Team is responsible for processing and analyzing accidents, serious incidents and occurrences in Finnish civil aviation. Correktor and Traficom Safety Information Team have been working together to develop aviation safety occurrence processing in Finland. Traficom is using the Safety Quality App to automate occurrence processing in Eccairs 2. Automation has been added to 19 attributes, and there are over 200 defined rules that preprocess the occurrences.

This automation has significantly reduced the amount of time and effort required for safety occurrence processing. By using the Safety Quality App, Traficom can quickly and efficiently process safety occurrences, ensuring that safety standards are maintained at the highest level.

It has been crucial for our team to have the Safety Quality App as a trustworthy addition to E2. This has helped us remarkably during the kick-off of E2 and is now essential for us to manage processing of occurrences with the resources available. Understanding the different functions and features has been fairly easy for the team, since the functions are related to the Regulation (EU) 376/2014 and our own requests that serve the Finnish safety work.

Safety Quality App is also used to add missing data to reports in the following areas: aircraft information from a national registry, flight information from a flight information service provider and weather data from a weather data provider. This additional data enhances Traficom's ability to conduct more precise aviation safety analysis using business intelligence tools.

A tight collaboration with the team has created an environment where developing better solutions is fast and rewarding in a continuous delivery model. The team is full of ideas to add automation and rules which are implemented as we continue to further automate occurrence processing.

Correktor, Peter Törnroos

In addition to delivering Safety Quality App, Correktor has also provided consulting and software development services to Traficom to further develop their aviation safety occurrence processing. These services include developing a solution to convert reports received by Traficom from a national taxonomy format to an E2 compatible format.  Traficom and Correktor have also collaborated to establish processes and best practices for taking the Eccairs 2 system in use. Through this collaboration, the process of ensuring aviation safety has become more streamlined and effective.

A typical problem in software development is that there is a knowledge gap between the business representatives and the IT department. In my work with the Correktor, I have not experienced such a gap. To produce this type of product, the company has extensive knowledge of aviation, the regulatory environment and E2. This has made the work time efficient and easy, yet the end result is a high quality product that is easy to use.
